Austin's Birth Story
I want to write today about my oldest son- he was born with his insides on the outside of his body! Called Gastroschisis! We had some ups and downs.. But he is a healthy 4 year old boy! We are SO blessed!

We went to Salt Lake city Utah to pick my grandmother and mother in law. We also took big prego pics that day also! Lol! We walked around a mall, Sams club and the airport. Mind you i was 9 months pregnant! Haha! We headed home (2 hours away from the city)
October 29, 2007
my mom and Husband went elk hunting and we stayed behind to hang out at the house! Fun boring day. Lol that night at like 11pm I went into labor so we headed to our local hospital.. I was not suppose to be having Austin there- they didn't have to resources to take care of my Austin.. Kinda freaked me out, but my dr was amazing. They stopped my labor and sent me home and told me to go to SLC in the morning and he would call them and tell them I was coming. Sounded good to me, cause I wasn't packed at all! Lol i was suppose to be induced on October 31

That morning my labor woke me up! Woke up my husband, mom, grandma and mom in law... Got our stuff ready and off to our local hospital we went again. As I was walking in ( I called ahead) so was my dr, telling me he went home and told his wife he should of sent me last night.. He had a gut feeling! Lol should of know! As they were getting me hooked up to the machines, he was call SLC telling them I was coming via alumbance. Within an hour.. them trying to stop my labor, and turn me on my side and whatever else they did my contractions were coming faster and harder... My dr and nurses talked and decided sending me care flight would be the best and only way to get me to SlC! I was suppose to leave in 30 mins and it's a 30 mins flight... The drive is 2 hours!!! How in the world is my family going to get there? I was freaking out! My aunts came and say with me and my mom grandma mom in law and husband headed to SLC!
An hour later I was in SLC and being wheeled into the womans unit of UofU. I saw my meme then my mom, the husband and mom in law. I was so happy they were here! They got me settled into my room, broke my water, check my BP, and Austins heartbeat. Austin's heart beat was high, 190 to 210... Too high for a baby. They decided that I was having a c-section, which me and my dr had already discussed this but the on call dr didn't know yet, and it was right then! They gave my husband scrubs, little booties and a cap to wear on his head. I got wheeled into the surgery room, pulled onto a cold table and the process started. I was so worried Justin would miss it that I kept on asking about him. Finally he was sitting right next to me. :) I was shaking and cold and oh so nervous! My hubby was doing good, calming me down but was also nervous himself.. I told him I couldn't feel anything but I was still scared.. Then he got lite headed and tried to make it to the door and passed out on the surgery floor. :/ He broke the surgery door!!! They put him in a wheel chair and took him out.. I was all alone. :(
Austin was pulled from me and taken to the NICU staff, I didn't even get to see him. He was wrapped up and put in an NICU bed. When I was in recovery I got to see him for about 30 seconds! He was beautiful! He was on his way to his first surgery of his life! I didn't see him til the next day, my hubby did that night!
